A correspondent and administrator for Dundalk Exposed, the only online daily news source in the Dundalk region has received an email threatening the cancellation of their advertising on the site. According to the administrator who does not wish to be named at this time, he received an email indicating that any further coverage of the People Before Profit movement in Dundalk would result in AIB ending their advertising agreement.
The Administrator has told the People Before Profit group in Dundalk that he will not be bullied into hiding the truth from the people of Dundalk and Ireland. "This is the real problem here isn't it" he said "everybody is depending on funding now and their silence has been bought through fear of a loss on funding, or your job or whatever, so everyone stays quiet, afraid to question anything".
"Well I for one will not be giving into it, Dundalk exposed is not RTE, it cannot be bought off by banks or ministers or anyone. If the People Before Profit members are brave enough to stand up in the face of threats, then all journalists should be brave enough to report what they do and what they have to say."
The people Before Profit Alliance are to look into this matter further and will keep the public informed through the various free media outlets still open to us.
