News Flash!! Mandy Murphy's name cleared by Gardai, County manager now under suspicion
Mandy Murphy, the Dundalk environmental campaigner, has had her good name cleared by Gardai after the County managers office had accused her of forging names on a petition signed by many people in Dundalk.
Some time ago Mandy, who had been campaigning against bad planning decisions by the council, had a Gardai investigation launched against her by the County manager's office. Mandy, a mother of four and full time worker, had dedicated all of her free time to campaigning against the building of a super casino north of Dundalk. She had collected hundreds of signatures of objection from within her community and submitted them to the council authorities for consideration. The council retaliated by wasting Gardai time investigating the signatures that she had collected. Mandy has for over one year now been under terrible duress and had her good name tarnished by spiteful and corrupt officials, all in an effort to silence the people of Dundalk and dissuade any other good citizens from standing up in and for their town.
In an ironic twist, the Gardai may now launch an investigation into the County manager's role in a different planning matter. The Louth Environmental group, of which Mandy is a member, and People Before profit Dundalk, have been fighting a campaign seeking an investigation into the planned building of 495 houses on the Carnbeg golf course. Louth Environmental Group has submitted evidence to the Gardai Siochana which may prove that a number of councillors were given false information prior to voting on the zoning of this land. If this is true it may indeed be the opening of a Pandora's box revealIing a litany of corruption in the Councils that go back many years and continues to this day.
People Before Profit would like to congratulate Mandy on her result today and to thank her on behalf of all of our supporters for standing up against the corruption that has plagued Dundalk and Ireland for many years. We hope that the local newspapers that printed photos of Mandy when council authorities vexaciously had a Gardai investigation launched against her will now do the right thing and give equal coverage to her vindication.
