A council full of chickens
As regular readers may be aware, Dundalk town council has been taken to court by McCaughey developments in an effort to overturn a planning decision by councillors, the decision retained land for natural habitat and amenities. Dundalk people Before Profit submitted a file to every councillor involved in the vote, telling them about the high court action and what they could do in support of their decision.
Not one councillor excepting Oliver Morgan ever bothered to get back to us and even when we explained that if McCaughey wins it could set a precedent for over turning every council decision ever made, they still didn't have the intelligence and/or nerve to do the right thing and submit affidavits to the high court explaining why they decided to keep the land as zoned for habitat and amenities.
This shows us the low quality of councillors we have in this town. They have shown low levels of ethics, values and nerves to the point where they might as well just hand the keys of the town to developers and corrupt unelected officials. We can only hope and pray that at the next local elections the people of Dundalk, with our help, will see past their phoney fake smiles and empty promises and vote for people who have the brains and nerves to clean up our town of the dirty dealings that have marred it's affairs for so long. Together we are strong and can make change happen.
